Flashbacks during tonight’s episode of Coronation Street finally allowed us to learn what happened before Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) and Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) crashed their car.
Following Imran’s death, the police have launched an investigation.
Initially they thought the brakes on the car had been tampered with, which led to the crash.
However, after interviewing Abi (Sally Carman) and Kevin (Michael Le Vell), DS Swain confirmed the car was working perfectly before the crash.
This made DS Swain very suspicious, and after a conversation with Kelly (Millie Gibson), she visited Toyah and made the accusation she deliberately drove straight into the building.
Tonight, as Toyah returned home, she was left on her own with Alfie in the flat.
As Toyah attempted to process the last couple of days, we returned to the moments leading up to Imran’s death.
Driving through Manchester, Imran revealed everything to Toyah – the fact he had paid Ben to lie, how he believed Abi was back on drugs, and said he painted her as the enemy when really, she was the victim in his complicated tale of lies.
Toyah, throughout all of this, was disgusted. She told Imran, ‘I hate you with all my heart’ and confirmed their life together had firmly come to an end.
Imran tried his very best to talk things through, but Toyah wasn’t prepared to give him anymore chances.
When the crash aired again, we saw it from multiple angles, allowing us to learn Toyah certainly didn’t slam the brakes or make an effort to follow the road.
As the car crashed, the speed in which it was going caused the back end to lift, suggesting Toyah was driving at a high speed.
Returning to the flat, Toyah listened to the voice messages from Imran again, reality hitting her that there is substantial proof for the police to argue she crashed her car with the intention of murdering her husband.
