‘Troubled’ Game of Thrones prequel with Naomi Watts is binned and won’t be aired

The prequel series for Game of Thrones , by HBO, has been binned and the episodes that were filmed will not be shown.

The show was intended to focus on the "Age of Heroes" and the origin of the terrifying White Walkers, revealing more of Westeros' history.

But fans will be devastated to hear that producers have cancelled the Naomi Watts-fronted series, even after completely revamping it.

Screenwriter Jane Goldman was forced to alter the show after unimpressed HBO producers slammed her original attempt.

But even the second go of it was not enough, and the pilot has not been renewed, and the channel won't be airing it.

According to Tvline.com , the pilot was "troubled" due to "budget overruns, numerous personal issues and myriad creative differences".

The show had promised: “The series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.

"And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”

Instead, HBO are going ahead with a different prequel project, which will explain the history behind the House Targaryen, according to Deadline .

The spin off counts the author of the books, George R R Martin, as co-creator, and is set 300 years before the eight recent series.

Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who played Bran Stark in the show, recently revealed the cast no longer speak on their shared group chat.

Speaking exclusively to MirrorOnline, he said the cast of the show have one big Whatsapp group chat – but none of them speak on it any more.

"It's dead at the moment", he said.

"It's petering out."

But he did say the film industry is a "small world", so the cast bump into each other a lot, but they are all too busy to chat.

Isaac hung out with Joe Dempsey (Gendry Baratheon) recently, and was spotted at  Sophie Turner  's wedding in July.

The show's final season aired in May after filming wrapped in July 2018
