Who is the Viking God Odin?
Odin is one of God’s in Germanic mythology and paganism.
Most information about Odin is detailed in North mythology, and he is associated with wisdom, healing, death, war and victory.
He is the husband of the goddess Frigg, whose name forms the English weekday name Friday.
In Old Norse texts, Odin is portrayed as a one-eyed, long-barred fan, frequently carrying a spear named Gungir.

He is the son of Bestla and Borr and has two brothers, Vili and Vé.
Odin is believed to have many sons, most famously the gods Thor and Baldr.
In Old Norse texts, he associated with the valkyries, who bring fallen warriors from the battlefield to Valhalla, which he oversees.
The other fallen warriors are chosen but the goddess Freyja and are taken to her afterlife location, Fólkvangr.
In the tv series Vikings, Odin is the chief Viking God and the ruler of Asgard, one of the nine worlds in Norse mythology.
Viking warrior, Ragnar Lothrbok claimed to be a descendant of Odin and often had visions of him and his ravens.
As portrayed in Norse mythology, in Vikings, Odin appears to humans as an old, ghastly wanderer who resides over Valhalla.
He made his first appearance in the first scene of Vikings season one.
In the scene, Ragnar watched as Odin and his valkyries select which warriors who will be taken to Valhalla.
In season four, Odin broke the news of Ragnar’s death to his sons Ivar (Alex Hogh Andersen), Sigurd
(David Lindström), Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) , Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) and Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig).
Odin also repeated Ragnar’s last words, which were: “There, I shall wait for my sons to join me. And when they do, I will bask in their tales of triumph. The Aesir will welcome me. My death comes without apology.”

Who plays Odin in Vikings?
Norwegian André Eriksen stars as Odin in Vikings.
Eriksen is an actor and artist from Oslo, Norway. He also has a background as a rapper and breakdancer.
Outside of Vikings, Eriksen is best known for his role as Uno in the horror series Svartsjön,
He is currently starring in in the comedy series Vikingane as Ørn.
He made his acting debut as Thomas Thendrup in 2012 in the film Nokas.

Eriksen then went onto star in Erik Skjoldbjærg’s film “Pioneer” with Wes Bentley and Aksel Hennie.
He then went on to star in the series Hotel Caesar and Trio: Odin’s Gull.
Eriksen played the character Baron Krieger in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Earl Ulf in The Last Kingdom.
Eriksen is also known by the artist name ‘Tech Rock’ in the Warlocks group and as a member of the breakdance group Atomic B-Boys.
In 2002, Eriksen alongside his twin brother Kevin ‘Karma’ Eriksen and the Warlocks won the Alarm Prize in 2002 in the hip-hop/rap class for the album Afterlife.
As part of Atomic B-Boys, Eriksen was a Scandinavian breakdancing champion and he and his brother are respected as leading figures in the Norwegian hip hop movement.
Erik son is also one of Norway’s most profiled graffiti artists.
