What time is EastEnders on tonight as soap returns to BBC One?

It’s been a long couple of months without new episodes of EastEnders, after the soap suspended production in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic earlier this year.

With our last regular trip to Albert Square having occurred on June 16, fans of the soap have since been treated to Secrets From The Square, a spin-off series featuring Stacey Dooley discussing all things Enders with cast members, from Kellie Bright through to Linda Henry.

We were also treated to some classic episodes from the vaults while we waited for the show to return – but our patience has now been rewarded, as EastEnders returns anew to screens on Monday night.

But what time should you tune in for your first post-lockdown trip to Albert Square?

What time is EastEnders on BBC One tonight?

EastEnders will be back on BBC One at 8.05pm on Monday evening.

The episodes will be slightly shorter than usual, lasting 25 minutes instead of half an hour.

However the soap will be returning to four episodes a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 7.35pm and Friday’s – which is half an hour long – airing at 8.30pm.

If you miss any instalments, you can catch up with them via the BBC iPlayer.

What will happen in EastEnders as it returns?

The show left us on a cliffhanger as Sharon (Letitia Dean) was revealed as the new owner of the Queen Vic with assistance from Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) – and you can expect some big storylines from that point on.

In a post-lockdown world you can expect to see the impact it had on the characters of Albert Square – as well as Sharon learning the truth about Denny (Bleu Landau)’s death and Mick (Danny Dyer) and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) adjusting to life away from the Queen Vic.

Singer and actress Mica Paris is also joining the cast as the ‘formidable’ new villain Ellie Nixon – whose storyline will be tied in with that of Denise Fox (Diane Parish).

And it will also explore how lockdown affected those trapped in an abusive relationship, with the pre-existing Chantelle and Gray Atkins (Jessica Plummer and Toby-Alexander Smith) domestic violence narrative, which will end in tragedy.
