Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) couldn’t have been more thrilled to get some new custom at the Rovers in Coronation Street when new guest Scott first arrived on the Street, but the same couldn’t be said for her husband Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley).
Jonny was visibly shaken to hear that the B&B’s new long-term guest was a businessman named Scott, leading viewers to suspect that a secret from his past was set to be revealed.
But who is newcomer Scott and what is his link to Johnny that has left the B&B owner so shaken and eager to get both himself and his wife out of town?
Who is Scott in Coronation Street?
The character of Scott in Coronation Street is played by actor Tom Roberts, who is no stranger to the soap.
Although this is his first time appearing as Scott Emberton on the Cobbles, Scott has appeared on Corrie in the past in various roles as a solicitor, Health Inspector and as a medical professional called Dr. William Gerald.
The soap stalwart has also appeared in Emmerdale and Doctors, as well as a variety of other TV shows.
Now playing the friendly new lodger at the Rovers, Tom revealed a bit more about his character Scott, telling Metro.co.uk exclusively: ‘He is a very charismatic guy, he’s got a bit of a swagger and he is very confident. He’s quite popular with the ladies, that much we will see pretty much straight away – he’s arrived in the area for a fixed term building job so he travels around a lot and probably has a lady in every port as they say! Or a lady on every building site!
‘It becomes obvious pretty much straight away, as soon as Johnny clocks him, that there is a past there. It takes quite a lot to frighten Johnny, he’s no pushover and he is quite a strong guy. So viewers will know from the outset that this outwardly charming, funny man with his witty lines and his confidence is not all that he seems.’
Although Johnny evidently knows Scott from the past and is clearly trying to stay away from him, the link between the two characters currently remains a mystery.
Tom has hinted that the past that Scott and Johnny share is not a pretty one, revealing: ‘I can say there is definitely a past there, a dark one and I am intrigued to see what theories fans come up with.’
We are yet to discover what Jonny’s secret past with Scott is or why he is so afraid of Jenny finding out the truth, but what we do know about Weatherfield is that secrets don’t remain hidden for long.
Coronation Street continues tonight, Friday 17 April, at 7.30pm on ITV.
