X Factor’s Rhydian Roberts shows off dramatic transformation and new career move

Rhydian Roberts recently showed that he is a far cry from his X Factor days.

In 2007, Rhydian walked into The X Factor auditions and sported a flamboyant style alongside dazzling peroxide hair, making him an instant hit with fans.

During an appearance on Loose Women in 2018, the singer reflected on his unique hair style and said: “I had it all through university but it wasn't quite as white" and went on to joke that he was a "Phillip Schofield tribute act.”

Despite being the favourite to win the show, the welsh singer made it to the final but lost out to Joe McElderry at the final hurdle.

Due to the classical nature of his voice and the fact The X Factor is conventionally a pop show, the singer said he had “a great time” but was “surprised” to make it down to the final two.

Although he wasn’t crowned the winner, Simon Cowell offered Rhydian a record deal and his debut album, titled Rhydian – gained platinum status in a matter of weeks.

The album also earned him the title of highest selling male solo artist of the year, with 600,000 copies sold.

Since leaving the show, the X-Factor finalist has undergone a dramatic transformation.

Although the welsh star was a powerlifter at school and a strong bench presser, his buff physique was rarely shown off until a photoshoot in 2015.

In the steamy shirtless snap, Rhydian showcased his ripped abs alongside his bulging biceps which looked worlds away from his X Factor days.

In 2018, Rhydian opened up on Loose Women and revealed his struggle with body image in the past.

He candidly said: "I did back at university. I guess you'd call it body dysmorphia.”

He then explained that he doesn’t have it anymore but “there’s always a pressure to look good” when you’re on TV.

In recent years, it seems the baritone singer has moved away from performing and opted for a career away from the limelight.

In his Twitter bio, the singer refers to himself as “Xfactor legend!” but has also revealed his new role as an Artist Manager and Promoter to a few household names, including theatre star Lee Mead, I’d Do Anything contestant Samantha Banks and pop band UB40.

On top of this, Rhydian also stated that he is a property developer and an investor.
