This Yellowstone finale was one of the most highly anticipated episodes of the series, with many intrigued to see what revenge the Dutton family will take. However, while some viewers were satisfied with the episode, others were left disappointed in the Paramount Network series.
One of Yellowstone’s biggest mysteries was uncovered this season and fans were eagerly awaiting to see how the Dutton family would get their revenge.
The season three finale ended with Beth Dutton, (played by Kelly Reilly) John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) inches away from each losing their lives.
Thankfully, it was discovered John’s adopted son Jamie Dutton’s (Wes Dutton) biological father Garrett Randall (Will Patton) was behind the hit.
With this realization, viewers were intrigued to see how the family would get back Garrett, despite his ties to Jamie.

All was revealed in the finale when Beth took matters into her own hands and confronted her brother about his loyalties.
Jamie was the first to discover his biological father was behind the attempted murder of his family and struggled with what to do, as he had got close to Garrette.
However, Beth was having none of it and ordered him to access the Bureau of Prisons website, this is when Jamie confessed he knew his father was behind the hit.
Infuriated, Beth threatened him with options, which resulted in Jamie being in prison or being beaten up by Beth’s husband Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).
Jamie fell to his knees and begged her, which prompted Beth to say: “There is a third option.”
In the next scene, Jamie goes home and a worried Garrette said: “Don’t you let those f*****g Duttons deceive you into thinking you’re a bad man. You’re a good man, son. And I love you.”.
To which Jamie responded: “I love you, too, dad,” before shooting Garrett in the head, killing him, then broke down crying.
The unexpected scene took many viewers by shock and many were impressed by Jamie for proving his loyalty to the Dutton family, including j_ashleygarcia who wrote: “Option three it is. Damn Beth!! Good for you Jamie.”
Golden_Josette took to Twitter and wrote: “No I don’t feel bad for Jamie for having to kill his bio dad his loyalty should’ve always been to the Duttons.”
“Loved the finale of Yellowstone,” tweeted Sweetsurpriseb.
However, despite the positive reactions, many other fans revealed the finale didn’t impress them.
Tommyboxeo wrote: “I was honestly expecting a more explosive ending to #Yellowstone tonight. I’m a little disappointed.”
Therealjulliak added: “The hype fell flat for season 4 #Yellowstone. Disappointed in this finale.”
After killing his father, Beth was there to take a photo of Jamie disposing of Garratt’s body which she will undoubtedly use to threaten him in the future.
Despite the popularity of Yellowstone, season five has yet to be confirmed by Paramount Network, however, there have been talks about various spin-offs.
While it is unlikely season four would be the last, there is a possibility the network was waiting for the finale to air before confirming season five.
Yellowstone seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Paramount Network.
