Yellowstone fans were left worried about the fate of a number of major characters at the end of the third season. One of those left in danger was Kayce Dutton (played by Luke Grimes) after he was last seen at gunpoint. Here’s everything revealed so far about his fate and if the actor behind the role is planning an exit.

Is Luke Grimes leaving Yellowstone?

The season finale of Yellowstone season three was a bloodbath as many of the characters were left in danger.

Fans will remember how a number of the Duttons were targeted in the explosive final moments of the show.

This included Kayce, whose future on the show was then left in serious question.

John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) son was becoming a serious candidate for governor by the end of the series.

However, just as he was about to speak to his wife Monica Dutton (Kelsey Chow) about his candidacy, his office was stormed by gunmen.

The last fans saw of him was him having to cower behind his overturned desk.

While he was not seen being shot, it didn’t look good for the much-loved character heading into the new outing.

This means some fans have been wondering whether Kayce actor Grimes might be hanging up his cowboy hat and leaving the series.

The actor has not revealed anything about his plans to leave the show yet, but the series has a lot of mystery about it.

Production and filming on season four has already begun with Forrie J Smith confirming the return on Instagram.

However, Grimes has not confirmed his future on the show in any interviews yet.

Therefore, it seems like fans will have to wait until the new outing is released to find out his fate.

Kayce was not the only character left in danger at the end of the season.

His father John was also targeted by a mysterious gunman who pulled up next to him on the side of the road.

John was helping a woman who had seemingly broken down when he was attacked.

He was sprayed with bullets and viewers last saw him lying in a pool of his own blood.

Kayce’s sister Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) was also in a bad position as the series came to an end.

This was because she and her office were targeted by a bomb, which blew up with her inside.

Fans do not yet know her fate as she was not seen again in the episode after this.

The final character in trouble was Jimmy Hurdstorm (Jefferson White) who had fallen off his horse in the finale.

Speaking during a behind-the-scenes special called Tales From the Bunkhouse, Jefferson White teased how fans should expect some change heading into the new outing.

He said: “I’m lying face down in the dirt at the end of this s***. It’s a whole new show. So much is uncertain at the end of three, 10.

“It’s so exciting and this world that we’ve spent three seasons building is shattered in 10 minutes.”

Yellowstone season 4 is expected to return to Paramount in 2021.
