Anneka Rice has relived the moment she was arrested, separated from her children, and narrowly avoided being detained after Croatian airport staff discovered a live bullet in her bag.
The 65-year-old presenter opened up on her ordeal during a brand new podcast, which she launched yesterday.
Advertising the new show on Twitter, she confided to her 71,800 followers yesterday: “New Wine Times podcast launches today. Will Lyons & I are off to Croatia. I’ve been twice.
“I had snipers trained on me the 1st time. Ended up in A&E & arrested at the airport for having a Kalashnikov bullet in my handbag the 2nd. You? Hope you enjoy it!”
She elaborated on her unusual story during the podcast, explaining that a tour guide had “randomly” given her the bullet as a gift and she’d accepted it without thought.

She now feels differently, quizzing fans: “It begs the question, what he was doing with it?”
“At the airport I was arrested. Because it showed up on security, they found a live bullet in my handbag,” she recalled of her 2018 ordeal.
Anneka recalled that she was left speechless after she was taken away from her kids to be grilled on how she had gotten her hands on the bullet.
“I didn’t know what to say. I was separated – my kids had to wave me off, I was taken off, I was searched, I was questioned,” she exclaimed.

She went on to make the claim that airport staff had freed her as it was a Sunday and they were keen to finish early.
However, she sees the dramatic moment as a close call, after previously narrowly avoiding “being shot at in the hills”.
The now popular holiday destination was more edgy and politically unstable at the time of Anneka’s first visit, and she ran into trouble when she first showed up at the former Yugoslavia to help rebuild a school.
While there, she’d also filmed for her Challenge Anneka show, which was famed in the 1990s, but this year had a revival and returned to Brits’ TV screens.
“There were snipers trained on us. I had a real moment of whether I’d get home [or not],” she confessed.
As well as assisting with the school, in the town of Pakrac, the big-hearted presenter had been challenged by the British Red Cross to bring food and hygiene supplies to the needy.
Entering the country at a time of turmoil hadn’t been easy – and Anneka’s return in 2018 was equally awkward.
She’d also indulged in a potentially risky motorbike adventure during her second visit, telling the Daily Mail that she’d “channelled my inner Bond girl” in Vis after discovering in the guidebook that it was the location “where Tito hid submarines hidden in rock faces”.
