Dove Cameron speaks her mind!
The 23-year-old actress and singer took time during a recent interview with British Vogue to discuss her political activism and how that fits in to her life as a role model for young fans.
Dove is firm about her decision to share her beliefs with young fans – and she says she’s exactly the kind of role model she would want her own kids to look up to someday.
“I’m completely open about my thoughts on topics likes gun policy, sustainability, and animal rights… That’s the only place in my life where I feel truly rebellious,” she said. “It’s so weird to me that people try and silence you, to keep you in a box. I’m aware that I have a lot of young fans, but when people ask me if I’m a role model, I always say yes. If I had a child, I would hope that their heroes or heroines embodied a sense of freedom – particularly freedom of expression. Otherwise, what’s the point of having a platform in the first place?”
