Ryan Reynolds’ new movie dropped on Netflix this weekend; 6 Underground is an action thriller directed by Michael Bay which follows six “untraceable” agents who don’t officially exist. Each of these individuals (who only go by numbers, not names) is highly skilled in a specialist area, and together they form an elite task force.
The team’s talents include espionage and combat… but not, it appears, editing. Fans have already spotted a pretty entertaining mistake in the movie, the long and short of which results in Ryan Reynolds appearing to be in two places at once during an early chase scene.
Reddit user thejokerjackson posted to the MovieDetails page, pointing out that if you pause the movie 14 minutes and 42 seconds in, you can see a guy stood with his back to the action. While it’s impossible to identify him from that shot, the positioning of the cars and surroundings certainly suggest that it’s Reynolds, who posted a video to his Instagram while shooting in Florence last year.
“Best part about shooting with Michael Bay?” said Reynolds in the video. “I don’t know. A lot of people would say the action, but for me, it’s the stillness. Those quiet moments.” The tranquility was then immediately shattered by the explosive car chase behind him.

It looks like that specific take made it into the movie, which makes sense given how much those kinds of sequences cost to orchestrate. It’s also unlikely that nobody clocked Reynolds in the background and it was just a mistake. Reynolds is, after all, fond of breaking the fourth wall and giving the audience a big cheeky wink, as evidenced by the Deadpool movies and his recent Aviation Gin commercial — so this was probably an added detail that adds to both his enjoyment and the viewers’.
