Sarah Ferguson was spotted frantically making her way back to the UK at Venice airport just hours before the Queen sadly died at Balmoral.
The ex-wife of Prince Andrew had been in Italy for the Venice International Film Festival, but when news of the Queen's ill-health broke, she embarked on a return to the UK.
Just hours after Sarah was pictured at the Italian airport, the Duke of York and the Wessexes were pictured arriving at Balmoral in a car being driven by Prince William. They had all flown to Aberdeen airport together on an RAF jet.
King Charles, as he is now known, and Queen Consort Camilla were already at Balmoral, as was Princess Anne.
Prince Harry was seen arriving on his own, heartbreakingly reaching the royal estate an hour after the Queen's death was publicly announced.
Sarah remains close with her ex-husband, who she shares daughters Princess Beatrice and Eugenie with.
The Palace released a statement confirming the Queen's death on Tuesday evening. It simply stated: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon."
Using Charles and Camilla's new titles, it continued: "The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
At 96, the Queen had reluctantly taken a step back from many duties in recent months, as her health issues worsened.
Earlier this week, she broke usual protocol by welcoming Boris Johnson to Balmoral as he officially resigned as as Prime Minister. The Queen then received a visit from Liz Truss to officially welcome her to the role.
Both of these meetings would usually take place at Buckingham Palace, but the Queen decided against making the journey back to London.
At her Jubilee celebrations in June, the Queen missed a handful of events and special changes were made at Buckingham Palace, including the installation of a lift, to make sure she could make it onto the balcony.
The Queen never lost her sense of humour or wit though and in a surprise even her closest families didn't know about, she appeared in a special sketch alongside Paddington Bear to mark the Jubilee.
In the wake of her death, tributes have been paid from around the globe, with President Biden and former President Obama joining worldwide Royals in sharing condolences. Many heads of state and political figures are expected to jet over to the UK for the Monarch's funeral later this month.
