The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed Ron Ely’s wife Valerie Lundeen was found dead with multiple stab wounds and the suspect is their son Cameron, who was killed by police outside the home.
AceShowbiz -“Tarzan” actor Ron Ely‘s wife has been killed by his own son. After news of Valerie Lundeen Ely’s death broke, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has now confirmed the identity of the victim and the suspect in the Tuesday night, October 15 homicide at the home of the 81-year-old actor in Hope Ranch.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at the home on Tuesday night and found Valerie, a former beauty queen, dead inside the home after being stabbed multiple times. The Sheriff’s Office later revealed that the suspect has been identified as Cameron Ely, the 30-year-old son of the couple.
After searching the home and surrounding area, deputies located Cameron outside the home, shot him and killed him. The sheriff’s office said Cameron Ely “posed a threat and in response 4 deputies fired their service weapons at the suspect, fatally wounding him.” No deputies were injured in the confrontation.
Each deputy involved in the shooting has been placed under administrative leave which is standard procedure, pending an investigation. The names of the deputies who fired at Cameron will be released at a later time.
Authorities confirmed Ron was at the home during the stabbing and the shooting, but he was not injured. An earlier sheriff’s statement said an elderly man in the home was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
It’s not clear if Cameron had been living with his parents. The home where the incident took place is one of two addresses listed in public records for Cameron Ely.
Ron played Tarzan on the 1966 NBC series. He also played the lead role in the film “Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze” (1975). He married former Miss Florida USA Valerie in 1961. They have three children together, Kirsten, Kaitland and Cameron. Ely retired from acting to focus on his family in 2011. He returned briefly in 2014 in the TV movie “Expecting Amish“.
