Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars Drop Silk Sonic's Debut Single "Leave the Door Open"

Silk Sonic, the collab project of Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars, have dropped off their debut single “Leave the Door Open.”

Clocking in at approximately four minutes, “Leave the Door Open” hears the duo’s approach on smooth ’70s soul. Mars and .Paak spoke to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe and revealed that the Silk Sonic project essentially began from a studio session in 2017. “It snowballed. And it was like, well, want to come back tomorrow? And we kept coming up with music. It felt like why you fall in love with music in the first place. And jamming with your buddy… There’s no plan, just working out the parts and trying to excite each other,” Mars said.

The new track was released just a week after .Paak and Mars announced the formation of Silk Sonic. The duo’s eponymous debut studio album, which is still under wraps, will feature James Brown collaborator and Parliament Funkadelic member Bootsy Collins as a special guest host. Mars took to Twitter to share more info on the record, responding to a fan by saying that they can expect “@AndersonPaak and I pouring our heart and soul into these songs.” He added in another tweet, “I just want to give you the best that i can possibly give and hope y’all love it as much as i do.”
