Ye‘s comments on the podcast Drink Champs have just landed him a lawsuit from the family of George Floyd. Filed on behalf of George Floyd’s daughter by her mother, the lawsuit is for “harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress.”
The defamation comes from Ye’s claim that George Floyd’s untimely death was due to the drug fentanyl rather than at the hands of the Minneapolis police. N.O.R.E. of Drink Champs could be seen trying to push back on Ye’s statements on the podcast but ultimately fans of the show were upset for his decision in giving him a platform — the video has since been taken down. N.O.R.E. has also given a full apology for the situation, “We apologize to the family of Mr. Floyd and anyone else hurt by this episode.”
George Floyd’s estate is seeking $250 million USD in damages.
