This year’s Academy Awards garnered the attention of audiences far and wide. The arrivals of many outstanding outfits however, watch accessories proved to be a great hit at the Oscars 2022. The gentleman graced the red carpet with watches that elevated their black-tie ensembles, ranging from understated classics to dazzling timepieces.
Perhaps, the brand that proved most popular was Omega. Omega continues to make a splash in the headlines as it sparked a worldwide frenzy over the weekend with its Swatch collaboration. Andrew Garfield and Jamie Dornan sported the new release of the Omega Speedmaster ‘57 that have yet to hit retailers. Dornan sported a green-dial Speedmaster while Garfield wore the red. The lineup was initially announced in 2013, and now almost a decade later, the Omega Speedmaster ‘57 is erected with a manual-wound movement.
Shaun White also appears to sport an Omega Speedmaster in gold, featuring a subtle green dial. Marvel’s very own Simu Liu is dressed in the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M in gold, a perfect complement to Liu’s red Versace suit. The red and gold pairing is an ode to the Chinese culture’s symbol for good fortune and happiness. Cartier was also a standout choice amongst Oscar attendees with both Rami Malek and Jake Gyllenhaal both sporting the classic Cartier Tank for the sleek, Hollywood look. Kodi Smit-McPhee also wore a custom Cartier commission, which saw the luxury house give a snow globe effect on the wrist piece.
Shawn Mendes elevated his clean, double-breasted tuxedo look with a Vacheron Constantin Patrimony, in rose-gold, fit for any black-tie event. Mendes has long said that fellow musician John Mayer, inspired him to get into watches. DJ Khaled sported the Jacob & Co. Billionaire, a studded time-piece with 90-carats of diamonds, sure to turn heads.
