Jenny Holzer, Shepard Fairey and More Want You to Vote in the 2020 Election

A group of 15 artists have joined forces on an exclusive series of fine art bandanas as part of a new initiative called Artists Band Together. Each bandana is sold exclusively on eBay, with all proceeds from sales going to the nonprofit organizations Mijente, Rise and Woke Vote to support nonpartisan voter registration and turnout programs in the U.S. Artists who have created limited edition designs include Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Hank Willis Thomas, Shepard Fairey and others.

“From the American Revolution to Harriet Tubman and the abolitionist movement to Rosie the Riveter, bandanas have played an important role as a historical symbol in the struggle for freedom,” Artists Band Together said in a statement. “In the midst of a global pandemic and a powerful civic awakening, our artists’ bandanas seek to carry that spirit into the future as a sign of our collective commitment to democratic values.”

The initiative was created to empower voices and encourage people to get out and vote, making sure that everyone is heard at the election in November. The first group of bandanas that are releasing today feature work by eight artists, including Holzer, Fairey, Luchita Hurtado, Marilyn Minter, Juliana Huxtable and Rirkrit Tiravanija.

Individuals bandanas are available for $35 USD each on eBay. Curated sets are available for $175 USD, while a complete set can be purchased for $525 USD. The Artists Band Together sale is running from now until November 1.

Elsewhere in art, leading artists and nonprofit organizations have launched a series of relief efforts to help treat those who have been wounded or left homeless due to the Beirut explosions.
