Mum mocked for sharing husband’s ‘genius’ trick to fix outdoor washing line

We all know just how annoying things can get when a washing line breaks.

But instead of buying a new one, a woman has shown how you can get creative.

Posting on a Facebook group, the mum revealed that her partner had come up with a "genius" way of keeping it in place.

She shared a picture of her washing line wedged into the hole in the middle of her picnic table – usually used for outdoor umbrellas.

It was revealed in the Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas group, where she wrote: "My hubby actually thought of a genius idea.

"I need a stand for me new washing line, he suggested using the parasol slot on the bench, problem solved."

Since it was shared, it racked up hundreds of likes and comments, although some thought the solution could be problematic.

One said: "Brilliant! Until something wet hits you and makes you scream."

Another user added: "That's great until you get pants falling in your beer."

A fourth claimed it would be fine for "small items, but not duvets or sheets".

The person pointed out: "They'd get dirty on the table and benches."

Meanwhile, some Facebook users thought the idea was pure genius, while another had other methods.

One revealed: "I've done this for years, it doesn't really work, because the long clothes drag into the furniture. If you need a new stand for washing line, you could try this… Get a big old flower pot.

"Put a piece of tube just slightly bigger than washing line pole, and cement it into the flower pot. It's so heavy that it wont blow over. Great when you need to be mobile or don't want a permanent stand in garden."
