My new colleague is making my life miserable at work

DEAR DEIDRE: SNIDE comments, silent treatment and refusing to pass on information are making my life awful at work.

I am a woman aged 24. I have worked in a big distribution firm for three years.

But since my line manager, who is female and aged 32, brought in one of her friends, life has been miserable.

This co-worker refuses to acknowledge me when I try to talk and leaves her work undone.

She also refuses to pass on information to me so I am out of the loop.

Every problem gets a personal reply, usually within 24 hours weekdays.

No one will stand up to her. What can I do?

Explain that ignoring you and leaving jobs undone is making it difficult for everyone.

Calmly set out that if you can’t find a solution, you will have to take it further.
