If you’ve ever dreamt of sleeping on a beautiful boat in the middle of Lake Garda, Italy, this Airbnb will be perfect for you.

Accessible only by kayak, and with a complimentary bottle of wine to drink while you take in hypnotising sunsets and dazzling skies, the La Sirena di Sirmione (meaning the mermaid of Sirmione) is perfect for an idyllic romantic getaway or a relaxing break with your besties.

The boat, which sleeps four guests, was recently listed on Airbnb. When pals Ana Savu, 28 and Amra Scotolati, 29 spotted it, it had no reviews.

Thankfully for them, it was the ‘perfect’ accommodation for a long weekend in Italy.

‘My friend and I wanted to spend a weekend at Lake Garda, so we had a look on the Airbnb website and decided to give the boat a try,’ said Ana.

‘It had zero reviews when we booked it as it was a new listing, so it was definitely a risky decision, but it turned out great.’

The pair stayed from Friday to Sunday, and only paid £140 in total.

The small boat features one double bed and two sofas, which Ana said could ‘technically’ sleep four, but that would be a ‘bit of a stretch.’

The boat also had a small but fully equipped kitchen and a toilet.

There’s no running water or electricity, but the host left clean towels, a power bank to recharge your phone, and a light.

The downside? No real shower.

‘There’s only a water hose to refresh, but it wasn’t too much of a problem for us, as we jumped in the water instead,’ said Ana.

What makes this Airbnb really special is that it’s only accessible by kayak, and is exactly 100 metres away from the shore.

For Ana and Amra, this was no problem. They faced up to the challenge, which ended up being hilarious

‘The journey to the boat was always a challenge, but we got pretty good at it by the end of our stay,’ Ana said.

‘I arrived there before my friend and met the Airbnb host. He explained to me what to do, but I was a bit confused, to say the least.

‘I asked him if he had five minutes to make the kayak journey with me and show me properly around the boat, and I’m so happy he did because I don’t know how we would have managed otherwise.’

Now, the boat-hotel has eight reviews on AirBnb and an average rating of 4.25 stars.

‘The boat was a fun adventure, very peaceful and cosy with the entire place to yourself,’ wrote one guest.

‘If booking, note that you must kayak out to the boat and board from kayak onto the main boat, this may not suit some people, however it’s very fun and something different!’

Another absolutely loved it, but warned you should stay sober at night lest you lose your way.

‘Absolutely COOL – it’s an adventure – mooring on the shore line keeps mosquitos away and it’s dead quiet,’ they wrote.

‘As an adventurist, access to the boat via kayak is easy but after nightfall you should stay sober to find the boat.’

However, if you’re not a big fan of the sea, you might want to think twice before booking.

One guest was dismayed as there was a storm during their stay.

‘It is very swaying and squeaking during the storm,’ they wrote.

They also had an issue with the inflatable boat.

This stay isn’t for the faint hearted, but, if done right, it’s a nice, inexpensive little getaway on Italy’s biggest lake.
