AceShowbiz -Besides honoring music, sports, television and movies, BET Awards have always offered audience and viewers at home stunning performances and this year is no exception. Among the acts who wowed people during the live ceremony that took place at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles on Sunday, June 23 were Cardi B and husband Offset.
The married couple was booked as the opening acts that night, performing their joint song “Clout” as well as her latest single “Press”. Despite previously admitting to being nervous over her performance, Cardi didn’t show it at all when she took the stage with Offset. Clad in a figure-hugging sparkly green ensemble, the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker gave the Migos member a seductive lap dance while dishing out her rap.
Cardi then launched into “Press”, with more than 40 dancers joining her onstage to anchor her dynamic performance.
Later on, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus graced the stage to perform their mega hit collaboration “Old Town Road”. Given the country theme, they made sure that their entrance was one to remember as the collaborators rode horses before making their way into a rustic Western saloon-themed stage to greet the audience. Throughout the performance, the country singer sang and played guitar while allowing Nas to shine.
Other note-worthy performances during the show came from Lizzo and Mary J. Blige, who was honored with Lifetime Achievement Award. The plus-size musician delivered an inspirational performance of “Truth Hurts” as she embraced her body in a white bodice and veil. Arriving onstage at the top of a wedding cake, Lizzo then took over the stage with her dancers, twerking and playing flute solo. Rihanna was seen in the audience truly enjoying her performance.
Meanwhile, Mary offered a medley of her hits along with Lil’ Kim after receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. Among the songs that the veteran singer belted out that night were “Real Love”, “No More Drama” and “I Can Love You”.
Other stars who took the stage at the award-giving show included Queen Naija and Lil Baby.
