All Creatures Great And Small viewers were taken aback last night when an exploding cow splattered poo all over the vets’ white coats.
The second episode of the Channel 5 period drama aired on Thursday and saw veterinary surgeon James Herriot (played by Nicholas Ralph) go and visit the poorly animal along with Hubert Merrick (James Fleet), Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse) and Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West).
After slicing open the creature to take a look at one of its four stomachs, they released that something wasn’t quite right.
But after the cow’s agitated owner took issue with their skills, the group decided to prod the cow with a scalpel.
‘Siegried, don’t you think the Colonel could benefit from seeing your handy work up close,’ it was suggested.
Delighted by the clever idea, Sigfried went right ahead and caused the cow to violently erupt.
No one was safe from the firing with the entire group covered in cow pat.
Audiences wasted no time in commenting on the mucky scenes on social media, with one writing: ‘Get them mucky coats in the wash!’
‘Oh yuk! That explosive cow!’ added another, while a third joking: ‘Well that was lovely.’

The second series of All Creatures Great And Small, which is set three months after the first chapter, kicked off earlier this month.
‘A trip back home to Glasgow presents James with a dilemma that will mean choosing between the people he loves,’ teases the synopsis.
‘As Helen and James navigate their feelings for one another, Siegfried, Tristan, and Mrs Hall are also forced to consider their places in the world, while James must decide between supporting his family or following his heart.’
All Creatures Great and Small continues on Thursday at 9pm on Channel Five.
