Coronation Street duo torn apart as Lauren Bolton receives devastating news

Coronation Street: Ryan leaving Weatherfield

It has been a difficult time for Coronation Street’s Max Tuner (played by Paddy Bever) as demons from his past have resurfaced, including Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) dad Reece, who was involved in Griff Renoyld’s (Michael Condron) extremist gang along with her.

Reece has been behind bars since the gang’s plan was dashed, and in upcoming scenes, Max and Lauren visit him.

However, Max is left feeling strange when Reece suggests he only took part in illegal activities as Griff threatened Lauren’s life.

In upcoming Coronation Street scenes, Lauren reveals her dad has asked her to support him at his sentencing.

However, Max makes it clear if she does, she will be on her own from now on.

Max wants a complete break from the Griff drama and does not want to be included in any scheme even if it is to help Lauren.

Later in the week, the troubled character breaks the news to Lauren that her father was given an 18-year prison sentence.

Will Lauren finally cut ties with her dad following Max’s news, or will she continue speaking to him?

“Lauren needs to move on with her life, cut off from her dad and move on,” Lauren actress Cait told Digital Spy.

“Her dad is her last bit of family, so cutting him off is terrifying for her because then she’s got to accept that she’s got nobody.”

Perhaps she will listen to Max as the pair share a connection following the difficulties they have been through in recent years.

Speaking to Express.co.uk last month, she said: “There will always be love there, there will always be feelings there because they share the same trauma.

“When you go through something with someone and experience something with someone who has always been there for you through it or even experienced it with you, you do have those feelings there that you’re never going to forget.

“That’s what Max has been for Lauren, from my perspective, I do really think there will always be feelings there.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
