Dr Hilary Jones has finally returned to Good Morning Britain after a well deserved break.
The medical expert, who has nicknamed the ‘pandemic pin-up’ by Piers Morgan for his daily updates on all the latest developments of coronavirus, was back in the studio on Monday alongside presenters Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins.
Charlotte revealed that Dr Hilary had been on holiday in France, however he arrived back in the UK before quarantine measures were introduced.
Speaking about his trip, Dr Hilary shared: ‘I was back about 10 days ago. I don’t need to be incarcerated just yet!
‘I was aware they were talking about imposing quarantine at some point.’
He added: ‘I had a little staycation in this country as well. I had a nice break.’
Discussing whether audiences should travel abroad during the pandemic, Dr Hilary advised: ‘If you want to take a holiday during a pandemic, you have to understand that risk and you have to face the fact you might have to quarantine.
‘That could affect your job and your children going back to school.’
From Saturday, Brits returning from France will have to quarantine for 14 days.
The new rules came into effect from 4am on Saturday 15 August following the removal of France, Malta and the Netherlands from Britain’s list of travel corridors – places where you can travel to without needing to quarantine upon return.
Dr Hilary announced last month that he’d be taking a break from Good Morning Britain after four months of leading their coronavirus coverage.
But, just a week after Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid left for their two-month summer break, Dr Hilary has announced he’ll be taking some time off too.
Dr Hilary was temporarily replaced on Good Morning Britain by Dr Sarah Jarvis, who gave audiences all the latest updates regarding the pandemic.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
