The ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ actor is reportedly eyed to star in a ‘Secret Wars’ movie, based on Marvel’s 12-issue comic book limited series, that is being compared to ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
AceShowbiz –Henry Cavill may leap from one big superhero franchise to another. The actor, who is best known for his portrayal of Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman in the DC Extended Universe, is reportedly being courted for a future film of DCEU’s biggest rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 36-year-old British hunk is rumored to star in a “huge” ‘Secret Wars‘ movie” that is being compared to “Avengers: Endgame“. According to TVO from the Lords of the Long Box (in a YouTube video), the actor is wanted to play a U.S. agent, who is an ex-Hydra agent that turns on the Red Skull.
While Cavill has played the Man of Steel in several DC-Warner Bros. movies, it’s possible for him to take a Marvel role should he really be offered one. WB currently has no concrete plans to make a Superman movie in the foreseeable, following the lukewarm receptions of 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice“.
The actor, however, has never ruled out the possibility of him reprising the role in a upcoming movie. When rumors emerged in September last year that he hung up his Superman cape, WB issued a statement to say, “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”
Cavill’s manager Dany Garcia also wrote on Twitter to assure fans that the actor was still the studio’s Superman. “Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. [Warner Bros. Pictures] has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe. Anticipate a WB statement later today,” he tweeted at the time.
Besides Cavill, another popular name linked to the big superhero franchise is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. After teasing his possible involvement in the yet-to-be-greenlit “Deadpool 3“, the “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” star is now rumored to joined the Marvel franchise as “Black Panther 2” villain Namor.
No other details are provided regarding both projects and the two actors’ possible involvement in those movies.
