Ghosts has been airing on BBC One since 2019 and a total of two seasons have aired so far. The third outing makes its debut tonight (August 9) and fans are keen to find out more about the latest instalment. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about how many episodes are in season three.

How many episodes of Ghosts season 3 are there?

Ghosts is a hilarious series following a group of ghouls from different periods in history as they haunt a country house.

The series stars some familiar faces from Horrible Histories and Yonderland.

The critically-acclaimed comedy series stars Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe as married couple Alison and Mike.

They move into Button House – a country manor passed down to them by one of Alison’s distant relatives.

The first episode of season three airs tonight (August 9) at 8.30pm on BBC One.

Each of the remaining episodes will air weekly in the same timeslot.

The season is made up of six episodes, and they have all been given unique titles.

The episode titles are as follows:

Episode one – The Bone Plot

Episode two – A Lot To Take In

Episode three – The Woodworm Men

Episode four – I Love Lucy

Episode five – Something To Share?

Episode six – Part Of The Family

The whole series will also be made available to watch online via BBC iPlayer.

The escapist series makes for easy watching as each episode is only half an hour long.

This means fans can easily binge their way through the latest season once it is added to iPlayer.

The second episode will arrive on August 16, with the third airing on August 23 and so on.

With this in mind, the season finale is expected to air on BBC One on September 13.

Seasons two and three were commissioned immediately after the release of the debut season.

A special Christmas episode aired in December 2020 and fans can only hope the same will happen this year.

The show is filmed at West Horsley Place in Surrey and it stars eight ghosts including Kitty (Lolly Adefope), Thomas Thorne (Mathew Baynton) and Julian Fawcett (Simon Farnaby).

Other ghosts include Lady Fanny Button (Martha Howe-Douglas), Pat Butcher (Jim Howick), Robin (Laurence Rickard), The Captain (Ben Willbond) and Mary (Katy Wix).

Season three is expected to welcome a new guest who causes a stir at Button House.

Not much has been given away, but actress Ritchie told Radio Times: “I can’t tell you anything about them, but I could probably say that they’re very unexpected and it poses a bit of a challenge to Mike and I, and our plans.

“It kind of leaves everybody warring a little bit. There’s a bit of a question over this person and who they are, essentially.”

Across the next six episodes, fans will find out more about Alison’s family, as well as a different side to Mike.

A short trailer for the new series has been released and it shows the ghosts laughing hysterically together.

The words “It’s dead funny” appear on the screen before a landscape view of the eerie country manor.

The supernatural comedy has gone down a huge hit with fans and they are excited for more laughs in the latest season.

Ghosts season 3 airs on Mondays at 8.30pm on BBC One.
