Love Island stars mum hits out against nasty trolls spreading lies

Love Island Voting Opens Up With Ella, Mitch, Whitney And Lochan Set To Go

Love Island’s Molly Marsh has had a whirlwind journey throughout her time in the show, but outside of the villa her mother Janet Marsh has hit back at trolls who claimed she used her soap fame to help her daughter.

Janet has previously starred in ITV soap Coronation Street which viewers have claimed she used as an advantage for Molly, supposedly playing the role of an “ITV producer”.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Janet claimed that internet haters and trolls have created an untrue narrative about her acting career.

The trolling became worse when Molly was sent back into the villa as part of the Casa Amor bombshells, after being dumped by Kady McDermott.

Some viewers claimed the move was unfair and that Molly had been given preferential treatment to have another chance with Zach.

Janet has vehemently denied playing a role in Molly’s casting for Love Island and has suffered sleepless nights as a result of the unkind backlash.

She exclaimed: “I had heard about trolling from past series because we have always watched Love Island but until your name is being brought up and your family’s names.

“I couldn’t believe it’s that bad and that real. We all know what Molly is like in real life and people presume. You read nasty comments and I think, ‘That’s not my daughter, you haven’t got a clue.’

“They have made stuff up about me. It is ridiculous… I have worked hard to get my small parts on TV. People twist it. Just because I have done three small parts on Coronation Street years ago now.

“They were small talking parts that you want to grow into more substantial roles but I am 50 this year so it has not worked.

“I didn’t want that to impact Molly’s position on Love Island in case the public started to believe I was an ITV producer. She’s not a plant and she didn’t get in easily. She has worked hard and been through the same process as everybody else.”

Janet explained that when Molly was dumped from the Island before her Casa appearance, she only saw her daughter for six hours before she was whisked away for press interviews.

Viewers of the show took to their Twitter accounts when Molly re-entered the villa and claimed it was an unfair advantage ahead of the original girls.

@EricaAbena commented: “I still don’t think it’s fair Molly got dumped and she got to do whatever she wanted and then came back for Casa Amor. Unfair. #LoveIsland.”
