Netflix teases first look at Don't Look Up in star-studded 2021 trailer

Netflix has revealed it will be dropping a new movie each week in 2021 and that includes Don’t Look Up, an upcoming political satire starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.

Fans were given a first look at Leo and Jennifer in action in the movie, as the streaming platform treated fans to a two-and-a-half minute long, star-studded teaser taking a look at the new releases for the year ahead.

Don’t Look Up boasts a stellar cast, with the likes of Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Matthew Perry and Cate Blanchett joining Leo and Jen onscreen.

The film is currently still in production, but Netflix gave fans a little snippet to wet their whistles ahead of its release and it showed Leo, in character as Dr Randall Mindy, standing alongside Jennifer’s character, Kate Dibiasky, and looking as awkward as ever.

The pair play two astronomers attempting to warn the world about an asteroid that is set to destroy Earth and they look a little uncomfortable in scenes that see them touching down in what looks like a military plane.

It was just one of many new releases – 27 in fact – that Netflix teased a look at, as the service revealed its plans to release a new film each week throughout 2021.

Netflix posted its latest trailer to its official Twitter account and tweeted: ‘2021 = a new movie EVERY WEEK on Netflix. Here’s a sneak peek at 27 of the biggest, brightest, fastest, funniest, feel-good, feel-everything films and stars coming to Netflix this year.’

The video kicks off with Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson introducing themselves on the set of their new movie Red Notice, with a message then appearing onscreen that reads: ‘If you love movies, check out a sneak peek of the 2021 Netflix films from some of our friends.’

A huge cast of stars make an appearance in the trailer including Halle Berry, Regina King, Octavia Spencer, Melissa McCarthy, Chris Hemsworth, Amy Adams, Jennifer Garner and Jason Momoa.

It teased the final films in both the Kissing Booth series and the To All The Boys trilogy, with a brief appearance from Lana Condor and Noah Centineo.

As well as Don’t Look Up and Red Notice, other films included in the highlights reel were Outside The Wire, Bad Trip, Monster, Malcom & Marie starring Zendaya and John David Washington, The White Tiger and Beauty.

Pieces of A Woman, starring The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby and Shia LaBeouf, was one of the first new releases on Netflix in 2021 and dropped on the platform on January 7.

It follows the story of one woman trying to come to terms with her loss after a harrowing home birth that sees her lose her baby.
