Sun, sex, and scandal! The Real Housewives of Orange County are as well known for their diva attitudes as they are for their divorces. RHOC star Kelly Dodd is rumored to be on the chopping block for the season, but despite denying rumblings of a firing, Dodd has plenty else to worry about. Her controversial comments about the coronavirus, sexual orientations, and race have made her despised by fans.
Kelly came under fire for throwing a tone-deaf bridal shower in October 2020 during the pandemic. She even wore a hat that read “Drunk Wives Matter” during the Black Lives Matter movement, according to E!. Kelly tied the knot with her second husband Fox News correspondent Rick Leventhal the following week on Oct. 10, 2020, in Santa Rosa, Calif., per Us Weekly. Kelly was introduced to Rick by The Real Housewives of New York star Ramona Singer in summer 2019; Rick and Kelly announced their engagement in November 2019.
However, Kelly earned her Dodd last name from first husband Michael Dodd. The couple were married from 2006 to 2014 and share 14-year old daughter Jolie together. According to Cheat Sheet, Michael has been seeking full custody of Jolie since May 2020 due to Kelly’s “reckless parenting” during COVID-19. So who is Michael? Keep scrolling to find out!
Michael Dodd has a toxic relationship with ex-wife Kelly Dodd
RHOC star Kelly Dodd may have moved on, but her ex Michael Dodd still has plenty to say about Kelly’s current lifestyle. According to Us Weekly, Michael allegedly called Kelly’s new husband Rick Leventhal “Gonzo” and threatened to “expose” Kelly’s true self.
Their relationship is still tense, with Kelly calling Michael a “deadbeat” in front of their teen daughter Jolie, as reported by Cheat Sheet. She even saves his number in her phone with a photo of Hitler. Turns out Kelly wanted a divorce from Michael back in 2012 — she even started dating again and got engaged to somebody else, but Michael won her back. Yet Kelly remained unhappy in the marriage, and in 2014, she was charged with domestic battery and Michael sought a restraining order, a source told All About the Tea. By 2015, the restraining order expired and Kelly sought therapy to work on her relationship, including attending ten Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
Businessman Michael has a successful career in marketing. In 2005, Michael “joined LeapFrog as President and Chief Operating Officer,” per Stars Offline. He then moved on in 2017 as an adviser for a speech recognition startup. Eventually he landed a position as CEO of SlideCatcher. Michael is estimated to be worth over $15 million. Michael also has been romantically linked to Newport Beach socialite Laura White, who is rumored to be a friend of RHOC alum Vicki Gunvalson. The drama never ceases in Southern California!
