RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice says husband Joe blamed her for him not becoming a US citizen months before split – The Sun

REAL Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice revealed her estranged husband, Joe, blamed her for not making him become an American citizen on the latest episode of the Bravo reality series.

The dramatic scene was shot months before news broke that the spouses of 20 years were separating following years of legal problems.

On Wednesday night's episode of the hit show, filmed earlier this year, Joe called Teresa from an ICE facility, where he was detained after serving a three-year prison sentence on fraud charges.

He said to her: “Listen, all you had to do was pick up a phone and call a lawyer."

Teresa replied: “Right, so then why didn’t you do it?

“Why is it on me now?”

The scene was a flashback shown during an emotional part of the episode where Teresa, her 18-year-old daughter Gia and her brother Joe Gorga, 40, were talking about Joe's deportation case.

The family was getting ready for Easter and making baskets for Teresa's three younger daughters.

Teresa, 47, said that if it weren't for their immigration issues, her then husband would be home with them.

Gia also relayed how hard of a time her dad was having in the ICE facility.

The teen said: “He called me five times right now and every single one of his hopes are getting denied and he can’t live with it."

The teen defended Joe's bad behavior toward her mother: “He’s going crazy. That place is a s**thole.

"My dad is stuck in a two-by-two [cell] with five people. I don’t know what the hell to do.”

The new episode follows The Sun confirming that Teresa and Joe are separating.

They have been apart for most of the past five years, as both she and Joe spent time in prison.

Teresa served one year behind bars in 2015.

The 47-year-old dad was in behind bars from 2016 to 2019, followed by an immediate transfer to ICE custody.

He is now awaiting his deportation appeal in his native country of Italy.

Joe and Teresa have four daughters together, Gia, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 13, and Audriana, 10.

Last month, Teresa and the girls visited Joe in Italy.

Her daughters are planning to see Joe for Christmas, but Teresa won't be joining the girls on the trip.

Following their split going public, Joe posted a picture on Instagram writing: "Every next level of your life will demand a different you."
