AceShowbiz -Actor Tony Goldwyn is swapping political drama for horror after signing on for the TV adaptation of “Lovecraft Country“.
The former “Scandal” star will make a guest appearance in the upcoming HBO series, based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff, which will be co-executive produced by Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams.
“Lovecraft Country” follows the survival story of African-American man Atticus Freeman, played by Jonathan Majors, as he takes a road trip with his friend Letitia and uncle George, portrayed by Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Courtney B. Vance, respectively, across racially-divided America in the 1950s in search of his missing father.
Goldwyn has been cast as Samuel Braithwhite, a family patriarch who views people as objects, and outsiders, like his own daughter, as inferiors, reports Deadline.com.
“The Wire”‘s Michael K. Williams and Jamie Chung will also be part of the previously-announced cast.
