Celebs Go Dating final cancelled amid Covid fears while filming

The final of reality TV show Celebs Go Dating has been cancelled in light of the ever-increasing amount of coronavirus cases.

The decision was made after the show's bosses considered the impact the Omicron variant is having on the public.

Filming of Celebs Go Dating has been heavily disrupted by the pandemic, as stars with the virus had to self-isolate, which made it difficult for Anna Williamson and co. to hook up the celebrities.

Meanwhile, last year celebs and their potential suitors had to live together for Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion to coincide with Covid restrictions that were in place at the time.

Speaking about the current difficulties they're facing, a spokesperson for the show told The Sun: "In light of the wider Covid-19 situation currently impacting the UK, filming for our finale is being rescheduled as health and safety remains the top priority."

The statement continued: “We thank our cast, contributors and crew for following our rigorous Covid-19 protocols, which ensure that we can film the series whilst maintaining a safe environment."

In early December, an insider spoke about the difficulties of getting episodes of Celebs Go Dating recorded.

They told The Sun at the time: "It's chaos. One of the celebs caught Covid and was filming with at least three of the other stars, meaning they're all out of the game for a while now."

They continued: "It's a worry for producers because, as with most shows, they're on a very right schedule, but the health and safety of the cast and crew is obviously their top priority."

Fans of the show will be relieved to hear the filming is not being cancelled indefinitely, as the statement released today explained, “viewers can look forward to the return of the celebrity dating agency when Celebs Go Dating airs next year.”

Ulrika Jonsson led the stars who were looking for love on the E4 show and was hoping to to get physical on the dating programme.

The mother-of-four, 54, cheekily revealed on the show's trailer: "What kind of person am I looking for? Erm, fun, good at sex, that's it… roughly. I mean, that's like a general guide. Any applications welcome!"

Speaking exclusively to OK! ahead of the tenth series of the E4 hit show, the show's dating expert Anna Williamson insisted that it is important to keep some "perspective in play" and not to "measure yourself" against everyone else.

The love expert, 40, had some wise words for anyone in a relationship at Christmas time.

Anna revealed: "Wherever you sit with your emotions around Christmas and love and romance, just remember that it’s the time of year that is very emotionally charged."

The TV host added: "My main advice is don’t put any unnecessary pressure on yourself. This time of year is highly emotive for most people, some people love it, some people hate it."
