Seb (played by Harry Visinoni) hasn’t had the best of luck with regards to his love life on Coronation Street and most recently, the young builder was left heartbroken when salon worker Alina (Ruxandra Porojnicu) called time on their romance before mysteriously disappearing.
Scenes set to air on the ITV soap this week will see Seb’s mother Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) discover Alina is still working at the nail bar, despite boss Rachel (Verity Henry) telling her son the salon worker no longer worked there.
Unbeknownst to Seb and the rest of Weatherfield, the nail bar is acting as a front for a human trafficking ring, with Alina one of the victims of modern slavery and it has been teased Eileen Grimshaw’s new beau Jan Lozinski (Piotr Baumann) is a part of the criminal network.
As Seb reels from his mother’s discovery later this week, next week’s episodes will see Alina’s story step up a gear as the truth about her shady behaviour begins to dawn on her ex-boyfriend.
The drama gets underway when Abi is inadvertently drawn into the situation once again when she spots Jan getting into another woman’s car and soon tells her son Seb about what she’s seen.
With Jan clearly keeping secrets from Seb and his new lover, the young builder confronts the shady character about his meeting with the mysterious woman, at which time Eileen walk through the door.
As Jan tries to dig himself out yet another hole, Seb continues with his quest to track down Alina to get answers as to why she’s been avoiding him.
However, what Seb isn’t expecting is to see the conditions Alina has been living in and the young builder suddenly realises his ex-girlfriend has been living a harrowing ordeal.
Terrified her secret is about to be exposed as the young builder has now seen the poor conditions of her home, Alina orders Seb to leave the premises.
Concerned for Alina’s wellbeing, will Seb grant her requests and leave before she gets into any more trouble, or will he confront her captors?
She’s going to put Seb in danger
If Seb does decide to help Alina by staying put, he could find himself in mortal peril as the real salon owners do their best to protect their illegal activity.
Confronting Alina’s captors, Seb could also discover Jan is one of the masterminds trying to keep the slavery network hidden and if he escapes the clutches of her salon owners, he may decided to find out what his fellow lodger is playing at.
Will Jan reveal all, or could he take action to silence Seb in order to keep up appearances with Eileen and maintain the secrecy of the criminal network?
Alina actress Ruxandra Porojnicu, 25, teased earlier this year Seb would face up to the terrifying situation of her characters situation, telling Daily Star: “Sadly, without meaning to, she’s going to put Seb in danger.”
Viewers will have to wait and see if Seb’s journey on the cobbles is about to come to an end, but elsewhere in Weatherfield, another character’s life could be in jeopardy.
Gary Windass (Mikey North) is set to continue his reign of terror on the cobbles after claiming the lives of Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) and loan shark Rick Neelan (Greg Wodd) earlier this year.
As he continues to harbour his murderous secret, Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) could find himself Gary’s third unwilling victim.
Spoiler pictures from on-location filming show Gary and Ryan having a tense confrontation before the latter is left bloodied and bruised.
Although the circumstances surrounding the altercation is unknown, could it be Ryan has discovered Gary is a killer?
Or could it be Gary’s new life as a loan shark will see Ryan become one of his customers who fails to make a repayment?
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
