‘Drag Race Holland’ kicked off this week

The first 10 queens sashayed into the workroom for Drag Race Holland this week. The first-ever Holland queens are is Abby OMG, ChelseaBoy, Envy Peru, Janey Jacké, Madame Madness, Ma’Ma Queen, Megan Schoonbrood, Patty Pam-Pam, Roem, and Sederginne.

The show is hosted by TV host and stylist Fred van Leer, who is acting as the “RuPaul” of the show. In a prior statement, he said, “It’s all about charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent and I can’t wait to see all the fantastic creations of the queens on the runway, the lip syncs and all the challenges we created. A first message to our queens: You’d better work b***h! Good luck and don’t f**k it up!”

In the first episode, Miss Abby OMG was the first-ever mini-challenge winner for Drag Race Holland, having the best picture during an underwater photoshoot.

The maxi-challenge paid homage to queens and Janey Jacké reigned supreme. Her queen of choice was a Queen Bee, and she had aspects of the Queen Bey herself, Beyoncé. The bottom two queens were Megan Schoonbrood and Roem. They lip-synced to Madonna’s “Express Yourself,” and Roem became the first Drag Race Holland queen to sashay away.

Miss Abby OMG and Envy Peru have a major connection

Miss Abby OMG and Envy Peru are both of Latinx descent. As noted in his drag name, Envy Peru (whose real name is Boris Itzkovich Escobar) is from Peru. He moved to the Netherlands with his mother he was young. Envy Peru is the first Peruvian queen in the franchise.

Miss Abby OMG, whose real name is Henrique dos Santos, is from Brazil and is the first Brazilian queen to compete under the original Drag Race format. Diva Houston, also a Brazilian queen, competed on The Switch Drag Race, a Chilean show based on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

In the first episode, Miss Abby OMG and Envy Peru said that they were sisters. However, drag queens calling themselves sisters doesn’t necessarily mean they are “drag sisters,” in that they have the same drag mother. Still, this statement by Miss Abby OMG and Envy Peru checks out. Though they don’t share the same drag mother, the queens, along with Ivy-Elyse Monroe, founded the drag house of Mermaids Mansion. This makes them sisters.

Additionally, Miss Abby OMG’s drag mother, Lady Galore, is also the drag mother of Patty Pam-Pam, making them drag sisters as well. This isn’t a fact that is mentioned on the first episode.
